About Me

The Peterson Automotive Museum, Los Angeles, California

This is the earliest trip featured on this page (February, '04).  This is a tremendous museum.  If you ever get a chance, check it out.  The pictures featured include the following:

The Helms Bakery Truck is a fine example of these bread loaf shaped delivery trucks that were as common as UPS vans when I was a child.

The "Hirohata Merc" was one of the best examples of early 50's custom work done by the Barris brothers. Ed Roth's Outlaw '59 was the first car that Roth created using his special plaster and fiberglass method.

Hot August Nights (HAN), Reno, Nevada

Typically, 5,000 cars are enrolled, with contests all over Reno and Sparks.  The auto museum in Reno is terrific.  The event goes through the first week in August.  We went in '05 and '06.  These pictures feature street rods and customs at some of the street cruises and contests found all over the city.

The John Force Racing Complex, Yorba Linda, California

Click on image to enlargeMr. Force's complex features the Race Station store, open several days a week.  The complex is open to the public once a year and features a car show that raises money for needy children.  We were there in December '06.  Unfortunately it was on a day that the Race Station was closed.

Wally Parks NHRA Motor Sports Museum, Pomona, California

We visited this fine museum in December '06.  There are numerous historically significant race cars including Mickey Thompson's Challenger I and earlier dragsters of Don Prudhomme and Don Garlits.  All cars here are donated.  I have video footage that I hope to add to this page soon.
