Hi Fellow Auto Lovers: Who is Jim Rose? Well, I am age 60, married to a wonderful and very patient wife. I have two children, four stepchildren and seven grandchildren. I love them dearly and take an active part in their lives. In case you are wondering where the website name originated, it started with the grandchildren calling me Papa. Then my rule about "don't touch my stuff without asking" became "that is Papa's 'thang', don't touch." Then my car-related activities got thrown in as "Papa's doing his 'thang' this weekend." I was a behavioral/special education teacher for 34 years and retired in June, 2006. I first got the auto bug at age six. Like many kids then, I built plastic models, mostly cars. I worked with my father on vehicles at age 10. I entered my first model car contest (candy apple red custom T-Bird) at age 16 (did not win but still have the model). My first vehicle was a 1959 Studebaker Lark (wish I still had it). I joined an auto modelers club in 2001 and started building car models again, after a 40 year break. In 2003, I purchased my first Mustang, and had Blood Enterprise upgrade it to an 11 second street terror. That same year I purchased my 1953 Chevy half-ton pick up. I joined NW Mustang and American Truck Historical Society (ATHS) in 2003. All the years that I have had my truck, it has never won a single award but I love it just the same. I started bracket racing with the Ford Drag Team in 2004. My wife and I joined the Le May Museum Society in 2005. I acquired my 1935 Chevy coupe street rod in August of 2006. Along with my lovely and patient wife, I attend annual events such as our model club’s model contest in May, Puyallup Good Guys show in July, NHRA National event at Pacific Raceways in July, and Hot August Nights in Reno in early August. In addition, we attend car shows, cruise-ins, and drag races as much as time allows. When the weather is crummy I build models and read the 15 or so magazines that I subscribe to. “Life is good."
